Gaining a reputation for playing raw off-beat characters, Scottie was raised in Colts Neck, New Jersey, and began his acting career in high school at the age of 16. After graduation he studied at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theatre, earned a BFA at New York University (studied with Oscar-winner Beatrice Straight), and quickly made his stage debut playing a demented agent in I HATE HAMLET. After appearing in a number of plays in New York, New Jersey, and Boston, he moved to Los Angeles and earned an MFA from USC’s Graduate Theatre program.
David wrote and starred in the award-winning short film comedy THE RIGHT HOOK which won the HBO Arts Festival. This led to his co-starring role in the caper feature film DOCS AND ROBBERS.
He was selected to play the coveted role of Tony Cicero in the world premiere of the play VIG, subsequently earning rave reviews. He went on to play the recurring role of bad guy Vito Manzi on the daytime soap opera General Hospital, and has continued his theater career in plays such as RUMORS, SACRAMENT, MEN WITHOUT DATES, LAUGHTER ON THE 23rd FLOOR, THICKER THAN WATER, and BURN THIS.
